1Thess 5:22-23 says Abstain from all appearances of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless.
SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY-Psychologist and doctors have tried separate man, and the best they could come up with is that man is dualistic: soul and body. That’s not true.
Every house, kingdom, and city divided against itself cannot stand. Did you get divided before or after you were born again?
Before you were born again, your spirit and soul were united. The spirit man was spiritually dead and the soul man was large and in charge, and the body did whatever felt good.
The moment when you were born again, you became a house divided against itself. There is a war going on between the soul and spirit to see who is going to win.
Hebrews 4:12 – For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even the dividing asunder of soul and spirit…
Dividing asunder is the Greek word Merismos which means “to part, to apportion, to disunite, to separate. In other words, it means a separation or distinction made between separate parts.
You can be a born-again, Spirit-filled, tongue-talking Christian and spend ninety percent of your life in the soulish realm.
The purpose of the separation is for illumination, clarification then unification. If you stay in the word long enough, it will take your spirit and soul and separate them. God will show you how much time you spend in the soulish realm. Only the Word can segregate the soul and spirit and define them.
God doesn’t detach the two and send them in two different directions. The Word brings revelation so you can see which one you’re operating in.
The Word won’t take a big chunk out of you all at once. It will penetrate deeper and deeper into the areas where darkness lies. Areas where you don’t know what is there, areas where you don’t know why you acted as you did. The word will bring an incision and expose those areas.
