We all know that Jesus was our most significant example of submission thru servanthood. Before serving those in authority or anyone else, you must submit to the Holy Spirit of God.
What is submission?
It is an attitude of the heart, an act done willingly out of reverence for Christ; it is humble behavior, meekness, and obedience. It also yielding to authority without murmuring or complaining.
Romans 13:1 – It is important that all of us submit to the authorities who have charge over us because God establishes all authority in heaven and on the earth.
You have to submit to those in authority in every area of your life. (to Pastors, Elders Employer, Husband etc.) Sometimes you might have to bite your tongue off. Hey, it’s the Word of God, and we have to obey it!
What is servanthood?
It is serving, assisting, attending, and providing services that benefit or help others.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
(Philippians 2:5-7 (KJV)
Another example of submission and servanthood is found in Luke 1:26-38,
The Angel Gabriel came to Mary and told her she would be the mother of Jesus, the Messiah. Mary’s only question was, how can this be? Because she was still a virgin. The Angel told her that the Holy Spirit would make it happen.
God chose Mary, and she said yes, and then He did in her life what He will do in yours. He prepared her for service. Have you said yes to God? When God calls us, the only response pleasing to Him is: Here am I, Lord; use me as you will.”
Do you have an attitude of submission to God?
All God ask of us is to give Him our whole heart.
God offers each person a fresh new relationship with Him. It is an intimate, love relationship which belongs to those who confess their sins, repent, believe and receive Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Where is God at work in your life today?
My question to you is, are you willing to be like Mary and say here am I, Lord your humble servant as you have said, let it done to me? No matter what He asks of you.
Are you willing to proclaim that statement concerning your life? God uses those humble, committed, willing, and obedient servants. God’s grace allows us to have a submissive heart.
As we serve His eternal purpose God will do what He said He would do. He always keeps His promises. What you are going thru is not meant to hurt you but may be a gift from God like Mary’s situation was.
